Personal Review From Customer (Unbiased)

August 8 people found this review helpful. 5 ENG camera work in an environment of digital post-production, For HMMWV 2 years ago I bought my first camera when I AVCHD realized that Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 that support and make use of CUDA kernels on the graphics card to accelerate video processing (which shines through message less time editing now making the vaccine)

I bought the canon VX10 - this tiny little handheld camera - must have weighed 1.5 pounds or less. There were a lot of limitations as a total lack of a shoe or even a deadshoe to mount my old computer to my DV Canon GL-1. You use this s-shoe shoe or sub / small, as I like to call it, with about 10 pins that do everything from sound to lighting and flash. Great idea, I would have liked to keep the shoe full size though.

Canon lens left a little to be desired, but with 64 GB of RAM on board that could trigger a maximum resolution of 6 hours, since the battery can operate.

I bought lots of expensive accessories to make up my accessories canon obsolete, but the only thing he could not solve the lack of an XLR input for microphones. I mainly use professional camera mounted microphones Sennheiser RF band transmitter and lapel microphone or a combination of micro stick. Those had gone to a mini stereo jack 3.5 mm external microphone, and control levels is a task.

Hapily this year Panasonic came out with its professional 3 CCD (10MP) AG-HMC80 camera that sits on your shoulder, use your right hand through the strap to move the zoom and start / stop and has both a display screen, and an eyepiece viewfinder, along with a wide range of manual buttons, including 3 user-defined buttons can choose from a selection of 14 more or less functions available with just one touch. The User button center has a bulge in the center so you can find with your left hand while looking through the viewfinder. I can choose the video button 1 for high gain (which does not introduce noise), the middle button to switch to manual focus (with a 10x zoom and a focus bar meters), and turn the different characteristics of most right (third) user defined button.

The audio section is the best I've seen with both front microphone, microphone and auxiliary input on the rear XLR with 48V phantom power available (and switches for both the microphone on / off) - a port of audio monitor level 3. 5 mm headphones, and even RCA audio level. In the configuration can handle over 10 dB of attenuation, and there are settings for each channel in the side panel. I will add pictures and a video camera when you get a second to do it - right now I have only the rear panel XLR in the sample.

The maximum rate is equal to AVCHD Canon HF 10 - about 25 MB / s on a 32 GB card, however, the Panasonic can only have one card. The fee could only be a card holder as well, but with 32 GB of internal RAM of 64 GB total (which is 6 hours or 6 tapes!). With a chip holding sd 3 hours can not find the need to have two or even four out now. Also it is rumored that there is a 64GB SDHC Class 10 come for us digital shooters.

Look at the photo section in the camera to take more pictures and explain how the buttons to work together. My latest addition to this revision will be a second chamber. I can use my HF 10 and A / B of the two so you can see the difference in the video. It is light, but the Panasonic has the best video image.

I made a small change in my panasonic by removing the second group deadshoe a microphone and replaced it with a 2-deadshoe 2 bracken microphone receiver. The HMC80 features cable management clips around the side of it so that the cables XLR wireless receivers to be near the camera body and not get caught on things like carry around - it's a professional touch.

FINALLY - the stability gained by the right hand on the target, left hand on the viewfinder and the camera on the shoulder makes for a solid system. In the absence of a $ 50,000 ENG camera that has all the features I want at a price you can afford. It deserves serious consideration in selecting an AVCHD camera smaller than small simply do not have the stability that the shoulder mounted cameras do. I can digitally zoom optical zoom + 120X is not 12x 400x, 400x, but you can not do anyway detail. I had my HF 10 that arrest 10x + 4x digital because it was beyond the noise. The 120x I get here is used up to the last drop small, it is a bit noisy.

AG-HMC80 I have more paddles in working order due to its features and quality, so I'll be able to study life longevity. And on that note, if you enroll within 30 days of purchase (either electronically or by phone) to your warantee going to 3 years. That's almost unheard of in a commercial video camera.

The AG-HMC80 is much more than a compact video camera - a professional 3-CCD video camera and has all the features you would expect (see my still photos as they arrive earlier in the photo section with notes on what they do buttons)

UPDATE 05/07/2011 I added some macro photos so you can see the controls it offers. All these buttons can be pressed without disturbing ongoing recording was impossible in the Canon Vixia HF 10 due to its small size (I miss)
